Pig Out: Papa John's Pizza

Last December 16, we had our end term/ Christmas party at Cainta Rizal (Mark's place) we only bought roasted chicken, liempo and alcoholic beverages because i was late. HAHA. Every end term, i'm the one in- charge with the cooking but not this time because i need to attend to my training for swimming and some errands. Then we had our drinking sessions and non-stop chitchat til 6 in the morning (imagine that!). As usual we woke up late and decided to go to Jamba Juice but we were caught in a traffic jam so we ended up eating Papa John's Pizza in Robinson's Galleria. And we really had fun and we were so full.

This time, i'm with Dangie, Sam, Lester and Jerson; here's our pic BTW.

Let's start with the starters.

MMFF2011: Segunda Mano

Christmas is a very special date for us, we commemorate the birth of Jesus, celebrate it with our family, gift giving, FOODS, and the much awaited Metro Manila Film Festival. So this will be my first blog about entertainment since i started with food blogs and to be honest, i'm really nervous writing a blog about this, well thanks to MC for always there and telling me to try this one out and i did. HAHA. 

MC told me this blogger conference of Segunda Mano in Tea Cup Cafe with Direk Joyce Bernal at 3 pm and as usual i'm late and i think they were at the middle of the conference already but inspite of that i really had fun because Direk Joyce Bernal was so funny. She answered the questions of the bloggers really well plus her humour. 

The Box Office Queen of Horror is back on the big screen with another frightening offering set to bring a different kind of chill this Christmas season. Kris Aquino top-bills the movie Segunda Mano, an entry to this year's Metro Manila Film Festival.

In Segunda Mano, Kris play Mabel Domingo, an owner of a high-class but creepy antique shop. She longs to move on from the guilt after partly causing the death of her younger sister Marie twenty years ago in a tragedy that left their mother devastated.

Meanwhile, Dingdong Dantes plays Ivan Galvez a rich and successful architect recovering from the pain after his wife left him for another man. H e longs to find new love and the right woman who will take care of his young daughter.

Mabel and Ivan's path will cross and they will eventually fall in love. But when Ivan proposes marriage, Mabel experiences chilling encounters with a violent ghost that wrecks havoc on her and the people around her. Terror instantly escalates and leads to an unexpected twist that will put Mabel's live for Ivan to the perilous test.

Angelica Panganiban joins the cast in yet another compelling performance of her career. Horror is not a new genre to the acting goddess, but in Segunda Mano, she will treat the audience to a big surprise. What role will she play in the haunted relationship of Mabel and Ivan? Will she be an ally or foe? Viewers will be left guessing until the end of the film.

Making her big screen comeback via Segunda Mano is Ms. Helen Gamboa. The multi-awarded movie queen plays Mabel's mother Adela, a portrayal that audiences should definitely watch out for. After the tragic death of her younger daughter Marie, Adela grieved so much that she unintentionally affection for Mabel. But now that Mabel is haunted by seemingly vengeful ghost, Adela knows that she cannot stand to lose her remaining daughter. Is Adela ready to make the ultimate sacrifice to save Mabel?

Coming from three previous box-office horror films namely Feng Shui, Sukob, and Dalaw, Kris promises her audience a totally different movie experience. Segunda Mano is produced by Star Cinema and MJM Productions. At the helm is by renowned director Joyce Bernal based on the screenplay written by Joel Mercado. The movie also stars Bangs Garcia, Ian Veneracion, Rico Blanco, and Jhong Hilario.

Parvati is an all in one shop of the bestest Home made desserts so everyone should try this and their products are also good as a christmas gift this Yuletide season plus they also offer a wide range of salads, soups, sandwiches, pastas and drinks. 

Got a chance to visit the store at trinoma with my family and we had a great time even my aunt and mother are diabetic because they also serve excellent sugar-free cakes (Thank God for that) plus a bottomless coffee for every cake that you order. My mom's Lomi

So this is my first time to share my recipe and i'm hoping that you'll try this at home. I learned this dish thru my mom when i was 13 years old. This is our favorite dish especially when there's a "padasal" and will serve as our merienda paired with Puto or any "kakanin"

This dish is very easy to do and you can easily find the ingredients of this dish on your favorite supermarket.

INGRIDIENTS:

Tofu (diced then fried)

garlic (chopped)

onion (chopped)

pork (any part will do, boiled then cut into pieces)

lomi noodles (washed)

celery (chopped)

carrots (julienne)

eggs 

flour

calamansi

fish sauce

bouillon cube (pork)

SUPER EASY STEPS:

1. Saute the onion, garlic and celery. Then put the boiled pork and carrots

2. When the pork stalk is boiling, put the lomi noodles, bouillon cube and the sauteed ingredients and let it simmer for 15 minutes.

3. Beat the eggs and put it onto the pot.

4. Dissolve about 2 tablespoons of flour and pour it onto the pot.

5. Add salt and pepper to taste.

6. You may serve now the dish with fish sauce and calamansi on the side.

7. Enjoy your lomi.

PLATO! Kitchen!

My College friends and I are used to trying something new to eat and we found this perfect place for us. Kitchen is located at Greenbelt 3 near Cafe Breton. Kitchen offers wide range of foods, they have salads, burgers/ sandwiches, Rice Meals, drinks, pizza and desserts. I think one order is actually good for two because it's really big (but we had 1 order each haha) plus the price is not that expensive.

You should try this one too. Its ambiance is really nice, excellent dishes, and big servings at a very cheap price.

OPA! Cyma Estiatorio

Sunday is such a special day. We went to Trinoma to hear mass with the whole gang and got a treat from Mommy Chit; Had our dinner at Cyma Estiatorio. OPA! Cyma is a greek restaurant. 

I tried Cyma before and i ordered Lamb Gyro (220), Saganaki - Cyma Original (200) and Bottomless Cyma's Ultimate Iced Tea (95) and this time we tried something new. HAHA

Salates or Salad. Roka Salata (Family - 680) 

Fresh arugula (roka), chopped romaine lettuce, sun-dried tomatoes, candied walnuts, with shaved parmesan in Traditional Greek Vinaigrette.

Mezedes means appetizers or something small and delicate.

We had Pikilia (480) which is a combination of 5 Dips: Tzatziki, Melitzanosalata, Hummus, Htipiti and Taramosalata. You can also ask for another pita bread (50).

Pastisado is my favorite. It's Greek Osso Bucco - Beef shank braised in Greek tomato sauce, served over spaghetti (Family - 730)

Spinach and Artichoke Fondue  (350)

blend of melting cheese, sun dried tomatoes and feta, served with warm pita triangles and grilled garlic bread

Our second pasta dish was Garides Mi Feta Spaghetti Garides Mi Feta Spaghetti (To share - 650). It's an Oven-roasted shrimp and tomatoes, feta cheese, spaghetti and parsley, served with grated parmesan cheese

And for our Glyka or dessert, we had this famous "Flaming Mango" served with vanilla ice cream on the side (250)  and when they served this onto our table all the crew shouted OPA or something like hooray! 

This was really a treat for us and i'm sure that we will go to Cyma again and again!

Happy Lemon in Trinoma, FINALLY!

Happy Lemon is the new craze in town. And they only have 4 branches here in the Philippines, Eastwood, PowerPlant Mall, Greenhills Promenade and now in trinoma. After my class yesterday (Nov. 22, 2011), i decided to go to Trinoma to buy a gift for my "inaanak" and try this Happy Lemon drink. Well, their branch in Trinoma opened yesterday located at the Cinema level near Timezone. And sorry guys for the poor quality of the pictures, i just used my BB HAHA. 

Thank God they opened their branch here in trinoma because going to promenade or powerplant for Happy Lemon is kinda hard especially for us (North people haha). 

I tried their Green Tea with Rock Salt and cheese (90), i'm not a tea person but the cashier said that it's their best-seller so i didn't hesitate to try it. When i got my order, i asked for a cover and a straw and they said that it's better to drink it without mixing and directly from the cup to give you an extra experience and i did! HAHA. 

Well, we should thank Chris Tiu and his friends for bringing Happy Lemon here in the metro. They offer a wide range of drink because they're not just limited to milk teas, they also have Cocoa and coffee, Lemon series, Rock Salt and Cheese, Mousse Spin, and other specialty drinks for a very CHEAP price (85 - 100).
